Apple Sauce!!!

This year we had quite a lot of apples left...even after the wind came through and blew most of them off the trees and into the gravel below. We did not want the good ones that were left to go to waste AND we did not want to make any more pies (we still had 7 left from last year).

I had ordered a nifty little machine for making apple sauce at the end of last summer. It arrived a bit too late and we only got to make one batch but it was brilliant!! So, we broke it out again this year and went to work. We made it a family event and everyone gladly took turns at the saucer (it was still a novelty so it was "fun").

We ended up with 37 quart jars of beautiful applesauce.

Part of our production line. (We have a few missing but they were helping too)

JJ-KP-duty aka: Taking out "the Pig" NOTE: We got this bucket in Korea when we were there. They take recycling to a whole new level. This was for food scraps which then had to be put into a specific colored food bag. The bucket ends up nasty and smelly so we called it "the Pig".
