Hanbok models

We went to a Korean Wedding play at the Korean Folk Village. I thought that since the play was all in Korean we would not know what was going on and it would be boring. Well, I was wrong. It was very entertaining, we could actually follow the story line and there was even some English splashed here and there.

The play was about a wealthy family with a beautiful daughter. They had arranged for her to married to a wealthy young man with a good heritage. However, she was in love with one of the servant boys. Her father flips-out when he finds out about it. She pleads with him for leniency so the father sets up a competition (in which he thought for sure that the wealthy boy would win) between the servant boy and the wealthy boy. It was a hunt and who ever got the most pheasants would get to marry his daughter. The servant boy won and got to marry her.

Afterwards they had the traditional Korean dresses that you could try on. They even had "lady's maids" who would dress you and then you could take pictures. The traditional dress is called a Hanbok. It is a very pretty dress and M has wanted one for as long as we've been here. She was the first to try one on. C didn't want to but we talked her into it as well as S.
