On Tuesday the movers packed our whole house and moved it out into 12.5 large wooden crates in one day...furniture and all. It took them from 8:30am to 6:30pm to get it all done. I took some pictures of our stuff sitting in the parking lot while they puzzle-pieced it into the crates but S formatted my camera card and we lost the pictures. Here are a couple of pictures that I found on the internet. The huge cardboard boxes are called vaults and they are made of very thick cardboard (we had one of those when we moved to Okinawa). Mostly, though, they use the wooden crates. They load five of them on a flat-bed truck and bring them out to your home and load them right there. They then cement and nail the front "door" on and put numbered seals that we had to sign onto each corner. The seals are to deter theft. If the seal is broken the crate has been broken into. It's added security.

We planned to spend Wednesday running around paying last bills and taking care of loose ends and on Thursday S was going to drive our Suburban up to Seoul to process it in to the system to be shipped. However, our bill-paying expedition ran over into Thursday and we did not have time to do it and we were leaving for Thailand very early on Friday morning. So it would have to wait until we get back.
Our trip to Thailand was AWESOME!! We highly recommend it!! Over the next few days I will post pictures of our adventures in Thailand. We leave the ROK middle of July so from then to the end of July/beginning of August my posts will be more sporadic than they have been...scary, I know.

I wondered how the "sealing crates" thingy worked. Ours have never been sealed like that. Good thing...I will ask at our pre-move inspection today.
