Communication black-out

OK, I really did not give up on my blog...contrary to popular opinion. We arrived here in the UK on the 30th of July and were immediately thrown into a wild house-hunting game. We were required to view a certain number of houses within the first week that we were here. To make matters worse, we were in a pretty new TLF (Temporary Lodging Facility) aka: on-base hotel which for some incredibly odd reason had all of the internet hook-ups but NO INTERNET!! We were walking (about a 10-15 min. walk)everyday to the community center to check a web site for houses that were for rent. There were several times that the management had to chase us out of there as they had been closed for 10 minutes. It was a stressful time.

Long story short...we found a house but it is a LONG way from the bases and schools. Our top four kids are on a bus for an hour each direction...not including the 20 min. it takes me to drive them to the nearest bus stop. The rest (except for little L) are in a British school just up the street from us.

It is an incredibly long, slow process to get phone and internet up and running. We moved into our house on the 20th of August and it took us almost 3 weeks to get the phone hooked up and we still do not have internet, not for lack of trying!!!! I have been hounding them everyday. This is the epidemy of red-tape and bureaucracy!!! Hopefully we will have it really soon though. STAY TUNED!!

YEAH!!!! You didn't die en route!! I'm so glad to see that you're okay and for the most part happy!! The bus ride thing though sounds crazy...that's such a long ways away, but I guess the older ones can handle it, they're tough!! Well keep up with the updates when you can!! By the way, Steve's nephew and his family are my absolute favorite people. They must take after their relatives!!!! ;)

What about base housing? Not an option or you just have to wait your turn? Where exactly is your house!
Anyway, glad you made it!

I am feeling your pain, we had the same black out problem. We have internet and phone now, as of 5 days ago. I just have to catch up on my blog now.
