OK...where was I....

I have come to the conclusion that our internet connection is as good as it's going to get for a while. I had been waiting to catch up on the blog until our connection was more stable but I'm not sure that that will happen any time soon. So....where was I....Oh Yea Phuket. Here is the last post on our wonderful vacation to Thailand before we left Korea.

For our last 4 days we flew to Phuket (where the infamous Tsunami hit a couple of years ago. The hotel that we stayed in was the Laguna Beach Resort. It was a great place. After breakfast every morning the kids got to go out and feed the two elephants that the hotel had on the grounds. Anna and Sara. Anna was the mama and Sara was the baby. The kids loved them. They also had a spectacular pool with a big water slide, water aerobics, and games. They had jet skis, canoes and sail boats to rent as well as many different charter adventures.

We took an all day boat ride to James Bond Island as well as many other islands. They boarded us onto a big two story boat to get us to the general area. Then they would push out the ocean canoes, we would all get in and they would paddle us around. They gave us the option to jump off of the top floor of the boat at a couple of the places we stopped. S wasn't the first one in the water but he was within the first three. JJ decided that he wanted to jump off too. I called S back, made sure JJ's life vest was SECURE and let him jump. Little twerp wasn't scared at all (unlike his mom).

We went through tunnels (it had to be at low tide or the tunnels would be under water) to where the middle of the island would open up. The islands were like tubes standing on end and they were all open in the middle with lagoons and trees etc. on the inside. We could look straight up and see the sky and vegetation all the way to the top all the way around us.

James Bond Island is a place where one of the James Bond movies was filmed. They had hired "Longboats" to take us from our big boat to the Island. One of the boats had a pretty "souped-up" engine...we had to get a picture of it for my brother. We got there at low tide and it was very sludgy. A couple of the kids almost lost shoes and everyone who went out towards the island got very muddy (see pictures).

They fed us very well during the whole day AND the food was good. The entertainment started out good but went south towards the end. We should have taken the kids up to the front of the boat but by the time we figured out that you could go up there it was too late. We covered the little one's eyes at inappropriate parts and the older ones were good at looking the other way. That was the only beef we had with the whole trip.

Tam, we'll take what ever we can get. Even if it is one word in a post at a time. Glad to hear from you. Love the exciting photos. You make me want to travel. Except for the entertainment at the back of the boat.

We think of you often as we stomp on your old territory and see the skies where St flew. We are in the n part of the springs.

Keep up the bloggin

Hey Tami!! I'm so glad to hear that you're back and happy!! I love those pictures of Thailand...oh it makes me sad though because we had it all planned to go this last week actually but Chris decided that if we were getting out of the military that we needed the money for other things more than a vaction...but the worst part is that we are actually RE-ENLISTING!! So we might have lost our chance at Thailand, but we sure hope not!! ;)
