High winds vs trampoline

We had a trampoline when we were in Japan and had to disassemble the whole thing every time we had a typhoon warning. We bought a new trampoline when we got here (had to sell the previous one) and usually kept in a protected alcove next to the garage. Well, the gardener had been here and had pulled it out so he could mow the grass under it. We forgot to pull it back in, the wind kicked up during the night and this is what we woke up to...

YES, it jumped the fence! We were very blessed, though. Notice how close it came to our neighbor's car. We looked very carefully and there wasn't a scratch on his car. Our trampoline didn't fare so well. One of the outside, curved frame pieces was folded and the net supports were pretty tweaked. We hadn't screwed all of the legs on so they came off, which saved them.

The kids mourned their loss. Especially R, (who had never been on a trampoline prior to being adopted) she kept saying "no jump-jump?!"

We were able to salvage it for the most part. We are still trying to replace the one curved part of the frame that got folded.

that's so sad! here in the orthopedic/fracture clinic there's a BIG display on the dangers of trampolines, and I laugh every time, because so many people here have them.

and ahh the shrubbery of England! if we ever have to actually leave Okinawa I hope we go there next!
