Dickleburgh and Thorpe Abbotts

For Remembrance Day/Veteran's Day Steve's (my)squadron was invited to take part in the parade and ceremony in Dickleburgh to honor the veterans. It's a tiny little village next to the original base (Thorpe Abbott's) where the original 100th (bomb group) was stationed during World War II. After a social hour we formed up and marched through the village to the church along with some WWII veterans, and English cub scouts. We sat through a Church of England service were they sang patriotic songs, including the Star Spangled Banner (awkward). We got lots of compliments on our well behaved children sitting in the front of the church that were threatened with bodily harm if they didn't behave themselves. (J) Then we formed up and marched back to the Legion building and were treated to hot veg soup and fresh home-made bread. I think everyone ended up having a good time.

This vintage plane was doing fly-bys for us.
